Bottles: Baby Tracker is an app for logging a baby’s feeds, diapers and sleep, and sharing that log with the other people who look after them. This page says what we store, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
Who we are
Bottles is made by Zemmy, in the Netherlands. We decide what happens to the data in the app, which makes us the “controller” under the GDPR.
Questions about your data: hello@babybottles.app.
What we store
- Your account: the name you choose in the app (other caregivers see it, as in “by Sam”), and the email address and account ID of the Google account you sign in with. We don’t get your Google password or contacts.
- Each child you add: their name, and if you enter them, their birthdate and sex (the sex picks the right WHO growth curves).
- What you log: bottles (amount), breastfeeding (side and duration), diapers, sleep, washes, weight, length and temperature, each with its time and which caregiver logged it.
- Sharing: which caregivers have access to which child. Invite links are stored as a fingerprint (a hash), not the link itself, and stop working after one use or 7 days.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a technical report (phone model, Android version, app version and what went wrong) with your account’s random ID. Reports never include names, birthdates or your logs, and we don’t store IP addresses with them.
Your child’s logs, and especially their weight, length and temperature, are health information. We use them only to show them back to you and the child’s other caregivers.
There are no free-text notes and no photos in the app.
Why we store it
- To run the app: keep your logs, sync them between your phones and show them to the caregivers you invite. Without this, the app can’t work (GDPR article 6(1)(b), a contract with you).
- Crash reports: to find and fix bugs (article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in an app that works).
- What you log about your child is health information. We store it because you agree to that, explicitly, when you start using the app (GDPR article 9(2)(a)). Every caregiver agrees for themselves. We keep a record of when you agreed.
Who can see it
Only the caregivers of a child can see that child and their logs: you, and the people you invite. The person who added the child can remove a caregiver at any time; after that, they stop receiving new logs.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t look at it, except to fix a problem you report to us or when the law requires it. Bottles has no ads today; if that changes, we’ll update this policy first.
Where it’s stored and who helps us
- Supabase: the database and sign-in (EU region).
- Google: signing in with your Google account.
- Sentry: crash reports (EU region).
- Expo: delivers app updates; it sees your phone’s IP address and app version when the app checks for one.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website. The site sets no cookies and has no analytics.
Your data is stored in the EU. These companies process it for us, under contract, and only to provide their part of the service:
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete a log in the app, it disappears from every phone. On our server it’s kept, marked as deleted, so phones that were offline also learn it’s gone; it’s removed for good when the child or your account is deleted.
Backups: we keep daily backups for 7 days, so deleted data is gone from them within 7 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and data at any time: see babybottles.app/delete-account/. To stop sharing a child someone else added, without deleting anything, open the child in Settings and tap “Leave”.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it (most of it you can change in the app yourself), to delete it, or to stop processing it. Email hello@babybottles.app from the address you sign in with, and we’ll reply within 30 days.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Bottles can’t work without storing your child’s logs, so withdrawing means deleting your account (see babybottles.app/delete-account/). It doesn’t affect what we did with your data before.
If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the one in your own country.
Children
Bottles is for adults who look after a child. It stores information about a child, entered by their caregivers. Children shouldn’t use it themselves.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top. For a change that affects what we do with your data, we tell you in the app first.
